Dear Mama,

I thought writing a tribute a second time would be easier. But truth be known, it’s a been a bit more difficult than I’d ever imagine.

Your first grandbaby is graduating from SI in a few short weeks—and yes, I have gotten the “I’m18 now and an adult” line from him.

Rite of passage, defiant child? If I could pick up the phone and call you right now, you’d be talking to me in three languages with a 4th for good measure and reminding me and laughing…wait, I was the oldest and perfect child…NOW I GET IT!!!

“Just wait until you become a mother.”

You are missed every day. And despite my foibles, I learned from the best. That being you. Thank you. The adventure isn’t over yet but you loved me unconditionally and I wish I’d figured that simple, yet complicated part out earlier.

Forever in our hearts. Je T’aime maman. Toujours. Toujours.
